Over 30,000 employees chose Mac — and IT gets fewer tickets

SAP let its employees choose their own computer. Through the Mac Choice program more than 30,000 people picked Mac. Deployment is fully automated: employees set up a new Mac themselves in under 15 minutes.

Challenge

SAP employs more than 105,000 people worldwide and competes for top talent. Candidates expect the tools they already know and like — one standard-issue computer doesn’t deliver that.

At this scale, every workstation prepared by hand and every extra helpdesk ticket is a real cost. Mac also had to fit the existing infrastructure and work alongside PCs.

Solution

SAP launched its Mac Choice program. Devices ship straight from the reseller to the employee — at home or in the office — and set themselves up through Apple Business Manager and MDM, with no prep work from IT.

Employees use Microsoft 365 and the same documents as PC users. The internal Mac@SAP community lets people solve many issues on their own, AppleCare for Enterprise simplifies repairs, and MDM enforces security policies.

„We see significantly fewer support tickets from employees using Mac for work, which translates into a substantial business benefit.”
